Oman’s Information Technology Authority (ITA) has unveiled plans to introduce four more e-payment services, as part of an initiative aimed at promoting cashless transactions, Muscat Daily has reported. The authority is working to introduce e-Purse, account-to-account transfer, mobile payments and electronic bill presentment services in the second phase of development of the national e-payment gateway. “Mobile commerce or m-commerce is becoming very important now,” said Muhanna Moosa Baqer, director of e-Payments at ITA. “At the ITA, we have been envisaging that these are the next generation payment methodologies, and we are working to develop them in the next phase,” he said.
