Blue World Crete Inc recently announced that in finding a superior alternative to Portland cement, the company can save the planet from one of the dirtiest manufacturing processes and one which consumes endless amounts of fossil fuels to keep the ovens burning in the manufacturing plants. For every ton of cement produced, 1.25 tons of carbon dioxide is released into the environment.
The scientists at Blue World Crete Inc through their study of algae and mollusks have been able to isolate a protein enzyme that causes a biomineralization process of their exoskeleton structures, better known as their shells. This chemical reaction is exothermic, sharing electrons covalently and in so doing, directs the mineralization process to form a superior, monolithic, cementitious substance. A substance quite superior to Portland concrete when aggregates are mixed in with it.
Blue World Crete scientists have used plant cuttings mixed with their proprietary agent and have formed wood-like structures. Telephone poles, railroad ties, fencing and construction timber are no problem for this algae extract.
Blue World Crete Inc licenses its technology to cement manufacturers and distributors worldwide. Their concrete, Geo-Blue Crete, is superior and surpasses ASTM standards. The cement, like the wood (Geo-Blue Wood) is self insulating and has an R (heat resistance) factor of 70 at a quarter inch thickness. The concrete is water proof, and can be mixed with salt water. Geo-Blue Crete, has an early rise in compression strength in 4 hours of 3,000 psi and cures out at 6,000 psi. Geo-Blue Crete will not allow embedded iron or other metals to rust or oxidize and has superior tensile strength, unlike Portland cement. It is immune to acid and other caustic conditions and can be manufactured in portable ready-mix plants. It is green, non- toxic and best of all meets the economic challenge presented by Portland. It is expected to sell in many parts of the world 15%-20% under the cost of White Portland Cement.
