The Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia said the three proposed amendments for the Malaysian construction industry will be laid before the Parliament for first reading.
Datuk Abdull Manaf Hashim (pictured), President of the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia, tried to get the amendments for first reading in the current Parliament session, said Bernama. The session, which started on Monday, will last until 28 June.
According to Abdull Manaf, the amendments include Quantity Surveyors Act 1967, Architects Act 1967 and Registration of Engineers Act 1967.
The said amendments are results of the sprouting challenges over trade liberalisation and globalisation within the construction industry.
"The globalisation and liberalisation have opened up phenomenal opportunities for Malaysian players to explore previously unchartered waters in international construction contracts and in joint venture participation," he said.
