ICSC: Retail property school essential for career success (EU)Monday 13 August 2012
Getting ahead in your career requires dedicated networking and continuing professional education, according to students at the 2012 ICSC European Retail Property School in Brussels this summer.
Which is why more than 80 students from across Europe attended the industry’s only pan-European retail property school, now in its 10th year. Nadine Vandenbroucke of Brussels-based Devimo said: “The ICSC school gives us a strategic view of the industry – not just country-based. It’s also great to meet other young professionals on the same career pathway.”
Classes on leasing, management and marketing were part of the week-long school, along with the now highly acclaimed industry masterclass, this year given by Colin Campbell, Chairman of Pradera Europe, the highly successful specialist management company for retail property funds in continental Europe.
Every year ICSC’s European Retail Property School delivers two levels of shopping center management training for professionals new to the industry and those wishing to study at a more advanced level. Students sign up for classes in management, marketing and leasing.
Included in the 2012 School were more than 30 scholars, nominated by ICSC National Councils and companies active within the industry and sponsored by The European Shopping Centre Trust as most likely to become future leaders within the retail real estate industry of the future.
According to ICSC European Shopping Centre Trustee, Wolfgang Bays: “The future success and profitability of retail real estate relies on people who have the right knowledge and drive to navigate their companies through to a brighter future.”
Fellow trustee, Derek Barker, Managing Director of architects Haskoll, added: “Successful retail development supports local communities across Europe, boosting local economies and delivering employment opportunities.”
A faculty of highly experienced industry professionals from across Europe deliver the courses.
