Singapore-based construction company International Plant & Equipment (IPE) Ltd is set to open a showroom in Cebu, Philippines this month to cater to the construction needs of the southern Philippines market.
"Our expansion in Cebu was buoyed by its strong local economy as manifested by rapid construction activities here," said Edward Tay, Sales Manager at IPE.
The Cebu office will act as a showroom and after-sales service facility that will serve customers in the Visayas-Mindanao area, said Tay, adding that the company is still searching for a strategic location for the facility.
He noted that the company is estimated to spend approximately P1.4 million (S$41,404) for the new office.
IPE is a supplier of concrete and construction materials, including asphalt mixing and concrete batching plants, as well as mobile rock crushers and concrete pavers. It has network operations in the Middle East, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Four of the company's 46 batching plants in the Philippines are located in Cebu through private contractors, and Tay said the setting up of these plants cost between US$80,000 (S$102,472) and US$200,000 (S$256,205) in investment.
He noted that the adoption of advanced technologies in construction helps boost efficiency and productivity.
