by Cheryl TayA twist on the small office home office (Soho) concept, known as "work office home office" (Woho), is being tested on the market.
In its new Fusionopolis project, Ascendas introduced the idea of incorporating Woho units. Although the project is technically a business park, it allows offices to double as homes, with each "module" accommodating two people.
Given that the Woho is still in its design stage, it is still not certain whether all modules will be equipped with facilities such as bathrooms. Nonetheless, tenants will have a certain degree of flexibility to personalise their spaces.
For instance, an entrepreneur who has just set up a company can rent a module which can serve as his home at the same time. When the business eventually expands and more staff are hired, the neighbouring modules can then be rented.
Chong Siak Ching, President and Chief Executive Officer at Ascendas Group, said the Woho concept is expected to attract creative individuals who work around the clock.
The Fusionopolis project will cater to multiple tenants in the media, engineering and electronics sectors.
