Malaysians overtake Chinese investors in Singapore


Malaysian investors have now overtaken Chinese buyers in Singapore, according to a report released by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and CBRE Research. Analysts cite Malaysia’s close proximity to Singapore and those with Singapore PR enjoying an exemption of one ‘ABSD-free’ private property as the main reasons.

New draft made for Bangkok city plan causes concerns


The third most read story this week is a new draft city plan for Bangkok which is causing concerns among property developers. Designed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to reduce the city’s population density in line with the “Green City” concept, the draft plan may result in further regulations for residential properties’ sizes and floor area ratios in relation to the width of the road.

Government intervention in Asian real estate


Our guest contributor, Roy Ling, blogs about the importance of cooling measures set by the governments of Singapore, Hong Kong and China to prevent a property bubble from forming in their respective property markets. Incidentally, Singapore’s Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan this week released a statement in Parliament saying the measures have “produced encouraging results”.
